Bids are being invited by the Learning and Skills Council - Tyne & Wear
across a range of specified activities. For a link to obtain a copy of their
tender documents, which includes a list of the activities for which they will

Please note that the closing date for tender bids is Friday 3 October at 12
noon.

Call for Co-Financing Tenders in Tyne & Wear
The Learning and Skills Council for Tyne & Wear would like to invite tenders
for ESF Objective 3 Co-Financing to support specific Workforce Development
initiatives in the following sectors:
- Health and Social Care
- Manufacturing and Engineering
- Rail
- Business and Finance
The Co-Financing Application Pack - (click here) includes details of the
specific activities which are being sought, together with Tender specifications
and criteria.
The deadline for submission of bids under this call will be 5 p.m. FRIDAY, 30
MAY 2003.
If you wish to discuss a potential project or would like further clarification
on the information contained in the application pack, please contact ESFVON or
a member of the LSC Co-Financing Team as shown on page 3 of the application pack.
ESF OBJECTIVE 3: CO-FINANCING BIDDING ROUND
Tyne and Wear LSC are inviting applications from organisations under Policy
Field 4 Measure 2: Identifying and meeting skill shortages including those
at higher levels.
Eligibility: Activities must be in the Tyne and Wear area
Deadline: 10th January, 2003
RELEVANCE TO VOLUNTARY SECTOR ORGANISATIONS: This bidding opportunity is
probably of limited relevance to voluntary sector organisations given the highly
restricted priority targeting (see below). We have emphasised and given more
details about the one group that is likely to be the most relevant. However,
if your organisation has a remit for any of the groups indicated, the full
Bidding Prospectus can be obtained from Tyne & Wear LSC - ring External
Resources 0191 4926323 for copy to be sent or E mailed (down-loading directly
from the LSC Website is not recommended as it is currently experiencing problems).
Targeted groups:
PEOPLE EMPLOYED in SMEs in the PRE-SCHOOL SECTOR -
- Deliver an accreditation of prior learning (APL) programme to employed playleaders to identify their entry point into the NVQ 3 in childcare.
- Deliver appropriate training, at NVQ 3, to an identified target group.
- Develop a career pathway for new entrants to the childcare sector.
- To train NVQ assessors alongside the employees.
Employees of the Rail Industry that need to upskill or acquire higher level skills.
Call centre employees aged 25+
Gas sector SME employees & sole traders
Finance and business sector employees
SME employees in the tourism & culture sector
Engineering sector employees
SME employees in the retail sector

Call for Propoals for Co-Financing in Tyne & Wear
The Learning and Skills Council Tyne&Wear would like to invite bids for ESF Objective 3
Co-financing in the fields of Lifelong Learning and Adaptability and Entrepreneurship,
under the following measures:
3.1 Promoting Wider Access & Participation in Lifelong Learning - the focus of this
activity will be on capacity builing for the voluntary and Not for Profit Sector.
3.2 Lifelong Learning Provision Responsive to the Changing Needs of Employers
4.1 Updating and upgradingEmployees Vocational Skills
4.2 Identifying and Meeting Emerging Skills Shortages
