An invitation to tender to deliver activity in line with project specifications has
been published by Northumberland Learning and Skills Council. The deadline for submission
of applications is 4.00 pm Friday 5th May 2006.
2.2. To encourage year KS4 pupils ( those aged under 16, at risk of exclusion*) into
enterprise. (school focus, so not likely to be relevant to VCS organisations directly).
*n.b. due to oversight in the original specification exclusion targeting was omitted,
this is being corrected on the Northumberland LSC website - those aged under 16 to be at risk
of exclusion.
Key outputs: 670 pupils (aged under 16, at risk of exclusion) assisted in enterprise training

4.3.1 Project to facilitate 'community enterprise champions' (individuals promoting and
cascading enterprise in their communities) through existing social, community and educational
development activities. Project to be sustained through latter mentoring 'second tier' champions.
Key Outputs:25 First Tier Champions trained; 175 Second Tier Champions Trained
Resource: £130,000
4.3.2 Project actions to proceed and anticipate mainstream pre business start up development
and support. To generate ideas and stimulate enterprise through series of workshops, events,
and related actions, and individual contact. Activity should link with mainstream Business
Link pre start up support. Should be concentrated on low business start up areas and groups
under represented in business.
Key Outputs: 750 people assisted leading to 500 taking positive actions towards employment/
self employment/training/education; 100 referred to Business Link c/o business start potential.
