EUROPEAN STRUCTURAL FUNDS
2007 / 1013 NSRF published
The UK Government has published the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) which outlines
the Government's strategy for utilising the UK's Structural Funds allocations during 2007 - 2013.
The document provides a policy framework for the preparation of Operational Programmes, of which
there will be one national European Social Fund (ESF) Programme, with regional Programmes for the
European Regional Development Fund.
The NSRF also sets out the broad arrangements for delivering the Programmes.
In England, the Regional Development Agencies will take a leading role in delivering the ERDF Programmes,
working with regional partners. For ESF, Regional Skills Partnerships will play a leading role in the setting
of regional streategies within the overall context of the national Programme.
In respect of the North East of England, indicative allocations (in millions of euros) for 2007 - 2013 are:
ESF: 211.696 ERDF: 333.348
This is approximately just over 50% of the level of funding received during 2000 - 2006 and equates to:
ESF: c£144 million ERDF: c£226 million
