CURRENT CO-FINANCING OPPORTUNITY IN
COUNTY DURHAM

An invitation to tender to deliver activity in line with a project specification
has been published by County Durham Learning and Skills Council. The deadline
for submission of applications is 5.00pm 11th December 2005.
The single specification derives from ESF Objective 3 Policy Field/Measure 2.1 -
Access to basic skills provision (pre-vocational) and is intended to address
the needs of people facing economic or social exclusions as a result of
weakness in basic numeracy and literacy and/or other significant life skill
barriers.
Total resource available: £611,141
Period of delivery: within 11th November 2005 until 30th June 2008
Target outcomes: 1840 beneficiaries - average funding per beneficiary £332
Eligibility: Unemployed or jobless aged 16 plus, with particular emphasis on
sub-targeted disadvantaged and hard to reach groups.

Key points summary: a comprehensive range of provision is expected linked to
basic and key skills support - including intensive interventions re vocational
guidance, training and employment support measures and with an emphasis on
co-ordinating and delivering basic and key skills in line with National Basic
Skills Targets, or working towards new Skills for Life qualifications,
especially National Literacy and Numeracy Tests. (some tutor training is
also expected).
Strategic note: Durham LSC is seeking to fund a County wide project, therefore
prospective 'part' deliverers of the above should anticipate aligning with a
significant partnership of consortia.
