National and North East Launches of ESF Objective 3
The ESF Objective 3 Programme for 2000 - 2006 is being launched nationally on 5 June 2000.

Any developments from this event will be incorporated in further briefings and forthcoming seminars.

The Regional Launch is being held in the North East on 23 June 2000 and co-incides with the availability of Application Packs including Guideance Notes for applicants.
Application Period
The application period in the North East of England will commence on FRIDAY 23 JUNE 2000 with the deadline for submission of applications being MONDAY 31 JULY 2000
Application Procedure
All applications will require to be submitted to Government Office for the North East using the interactive disks enclosed with Application Packs.

This first call for applications will cover a period running from July 2000 until 31 December 2001. This means that projects will be able to have a start date from 1 July 2000 onwards, even though it may not be approved until the end of September 2000. Conseqently, such projects would be able to claim retrospective funding.

Additionally, some projects may have a start date later in the year.

In all cases the end date of the application cannot be later than 31 December 2001.

It is likely that there will be further calls for applications during 2001 but these may relate to specific policy areas to meet identified North East needs.
Issue of Application Packs
Application packs will be issued to voluntary and community organisations by ESFVON commencing on FRIDAY 23 June 2000 - all organisations should receive their pack by TUESDAY 27 JUNE 2000

For Information: You may hear that Application Packs are available from different sources and in different forms.

Application Packs will actually be available on disk and CD, and will also be able to be downloaded from DfEE and Go-NE websites. However, we understand that the downloading can take several hours.

Given therefore the difficulties which might be encounted in downloading your application pack, coupled with the number of voluntary and community organisations which have expressed interest in applying. ESFVON considered the most efficient and helpful method would be to send an Applicaion Pack including interactive disk direct to applicants.
Seminars for Voluntary Sector applicants
Preparations are in hand for a number of seminars to be held throughout the region to inform and assist voluntary organisations in the preparation of their applications.

The seminars are scheduled to be held during the period 29 June - 10 July and full details will be sent to all organisations that have registered their interest in applying.

These events have in previous years proved to be an essential occasion for organisations, with a high success rate for those attending.
Surgeries for Voluntary Sector applicants
Applicants will be subject tio a three stage process: Last Updated: 3 June 2000
