A briefing and consultation event for voluntary and community organisations
in the North East of England
The potential loss of European funding to the voluntary and community sector is
of great concern, particularly when reductions in other funding streams are also
impacting on organisations.
As you will know, funding under the current European Programmes will end on 31
December 2006 and new Programmes are planned for the period 2007 - 2013. But
what are the potential opportunities for accessing this funding?
ESFVON has for the past year been planning the restructuring of it's services
to assist you in responding to the challenges that lie ahead, and responded to
Government on their initial proposals which would have impacted further on the sector.
We also met with senior officials of the European Commission who confirmed our
understanding of the opportunities which could be available under the Commission's
draft proposals.
These opportunities however, are dependent on inclusion in the National Strategic
Reference Framework, a policy document which will set out the broad parameters for
Operational Programmes. The latter Programmes will set out the nature of activities
to be funded, and it is therefore crucial that a robust response is made from the
sector to Government, particularly with regard to addressing social exclusion.
This event will therefore, brief you on the current proposals, inform you of
proposed developments in ESFVON's services, and outline the opportunities which
are contained within the European Commission draft Regulations for the new
Programmes. It will also provide you with an opportunity to learn of, and respond
to, the Government's consultation on the National Strategic Framework.
The event comes at one of the most crucial times in the planning for the new
Programmes and we do hope that you will be able to join with us in formulating a
regional response on behalf of the VCS in the North East of England.
